I have a comment to do about the over complicated questions discussion to make and it is one that almost got me a job (unfortunately I made other mistakes that cost me it)
Some times, you are not supposed to be able to do them. Some employers actually give harder question that they do not expect you to solve in the time they give you just to see if you will ask for help/ admit you need help. My personal experience on this:
I was applying for an entry job and the supervisor gave in an extremely complicated question and specifically said: “You have 30 minutes to write something that will do as required but feel free to give up any time if you think you can’t solve it by the end of the time allowed.” And as expected, they wanted to see who would give in or accept that they can’t do it before time would end to see who would be able to accept that they do not knew something so deadlines wouldn’t run near with no progress.
